New long-term LNG contracts signed with Leading European Energy Companies
January 4, 2026
It has been a very busy month for Knutsen LNG. During the autumn there has been several LNG tenders ongoing and Knutsen has been active in several. At the last month of the year we have great news to share with all of you in Knutsen Group. Knutsen is proud to announce the signing of long-term charter agreements with European energy companies six state-of-the-art liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. Each vessel will have a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters and will be equipped with MEGI engines, ensuring the lowest methane slip and enhanced environmental performance. Three of the companies are new for Knutsen LNG, however already known by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers. Edison is already known charter with Ravenna Knutsen, and we signed one vessel on the 8th of December.
On the 19th of December we signed a newbuilding contract of 7 LNG carriers. The new LNG carriers will be built by Hanwha Ocean at its Geoje (Okpo) shipyard in South Korea and are scheduled to enter service between 2028 and 2029. The agreement further underscores Knutsen’s long-term strategy of operating advanced vessels and securing first-class charters through long-term contracts. This approach reflects Knutsen’s commitment to innovation, reliability, and sustainable growth in the energy transportation sector.
